Cisco TimeCardView for Unified Communications 560 Now Available!

 

TimeCardView is a time and attendance system for Cisco Unity Express users on Cisco Unified IP phones connected to Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express (Cisco Unified CME) or Cisco Unified Communications Manager. The application allows you to enter and manage time-card data from different user profiles.  Cisco TimeCardView also tracks employee hours worked and provides reports to managers showing who is in the office, with the ability to import hours directly to QuickBooks.

 

The Employee View allows you to enter, review, and send time-card hours through a Cisco Unified IP Phone. With Supervisor View, you can monitor, review, and approve time cards through a Cisco Unified IP Phone or a web-based interface. The Specialist View allows administrators to use a web-based interface to import and export data, customize reports, and perform other administrative tasks. An optional QuickBooks integration allows them to move data efficiently between applications.

  • TimeCardView creates business application integration with your Cisco Unified Communications Solution, allowing your organization to be more flexible and your employees to be more productive

  • TimeCardView automatically tracks employees' working hours and enables supervisors to view employees' real time status. It provides for online review and approval of timesheets, and it can generate the reports supervisors and payroll specialists need via the Historical Reporting Client and export them to the .csv and .xls file formats

  • TimeCardView interfaces with backend accounting software such as Intuit's QuickBooks so that timesheet data can be seamlessly transferred into the accounting system, thus eliminating human error. Integration with QuickBooks is optional

  • With QuickBooks, TimeCardView also saves Cisco Unity Express administrators from having to enter employees' names into the system one by one. Instead, employee data can be imported from QuickBooks into the Cisco Unity Express system and vice versa, employee data can be exported from Cisco Unity Express to QuickBooks via TimeCardView

"Cisco App" for iPhone?

 

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Cisco may be getting into the Apple application market, targeting business collaboration on iPhones and iPads. Later this year, Cisco will launch an app for iPhones and iPads, dubbed Cisco Quad.  At Cisco's Enterprise 2.0 conference in Boston, the networking industry leader will showcase Quad, which is described as an app that allows business users to search a wide array of content. Cisco will also showcase Mobile Quad applications for Apple's iPad and iPhone devices.

 

These apps "will enable desk-less employees to remain connected and engaged in interactions with their colleagues around the globe," explained Cisco in a statement released late last week.  Successful early trials of the Quad technology have already been completed, according to Cisco. The technology is rumored to be available on a limited basis during the first quarter of the company's fiscal 2011.

New technologies include a family of energy-efficient, unmanaged switches and a wireless virtual private network (VPN) firewall that small businesses can easily install themselves, as well as customer premises equipment that can enable service providers to deliver high-value services to small businesses.
 

Broad Technology Portfolio: Cisco has expanded the industry's broadest portfolio of small business solutions with new technologies to help small businesses connect, secure and communicate. New technologies include:

Easy-to-Install Switches: The Cisco 100 Series Switches are a new series of energy-efficient, unmanaged switches that provide wire-speed Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity for small business offices, simply and affordably, right out of the box. The Cisco 100 Series Switches are the first series in a broad new portfolio of feature-rich, affordable Cisco Small Business Switches. Other series will be announced over the next year.


Easy-to-Use Wireless Firewall: The Cisco RV 120W Wireless-N VPN Firewall allows small businesses to affordably connect to the world in a highly secure environment and provides business-class features for small businesses with 20 or fewer employees.   The device includes built-in high-speed 802.11n wireless access as well as the ability to link multiple offices and remote employees to the business network with a high degree of security via VPN.  The device also allows the business to segment the network to control access to files and applications and enable secure wireless guest access.

End-of-Sale / End-of-Life Notices – Are you affected?

 

Cisco announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco® Unified Communications Manager Version 6.1. The last day to order the affected product(s) is September 3, 2010. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in the Cisco EoL bulletin. For customers with active and paid service and support contracts, support will be available until the termination date of the contract, even if this date exceeds the Last Date of Support shown in the Cisco EoL Bulletin.

 

Cisco Unified Communications Manager is the call-processing component of the Cisco Unified Communications System. This scalable, distributable, highly available enterprise-class system delivers voice, video, mobility, and presence services. It connects up to 60,000 users of IP phones, media-processing devices, VoIP gateways, mobile devices, and multimedia applications. Customers on the Version 6.1 platform or earlier may upgrade to Version 8.0. The new features in Version 8.0 include the Cisco Intercompany Media Network, which delivers boundary-less communications between business partners. Version 8.0 reduces deployment time, realizes quicker ROI, reduces ongoing operational costs, and improves business continuity through advertising and the discovery of number ranges through Service Advertisement Framework Call Control Discovery.
